Where is the Starving people-series 11? – By Dr. Gunatillake

In my previous youtube on the same subject, on a previous entertainment show on the same premises, I headlined,” Where are the starving people”- a catchy controversial topic when Sri Lankan went through an unbelievable spell of an economic social crisis, worsened by the covid endemic. Though the title was catchy, I did give some clips of the insecure food situation of a large population of deprived people and stats to reveal that there is food insecurity in the country but no one starving. Brickbats were thrown at me from one of the forums I participate.

When one of those critics visited the country for a holiday recently, wrote to me thus,

“I thought, might be considered a reciprocal

of the same “question” you posed on this forum.

I am sorry that I did go against your very appropriate question, which I would ask myself.

Now, let us visit our present magical musical ensemble show by

Bathiya and Santhush-Pop duo in Getambe, Kandy, attended by maybe over 10,000 youth and oldies gyrating and enjoying the magical music festival provided by this duo.

Vocally booming voices and bags of character in the duo tones made that festival a money

-worth event for the merrymakers. ”

Great power and control by the duo made the evening magical for the massive youth crowd that participated.

Bathyia and Santhush have great vocals, with good control and projection”.

Bathiya & Santhush, also known as BNS, is a Sri Lankan pop duo consisting of Bathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman, who met while at the “Mary Anne David School of Vocal Music” in Colombo. They both were born in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

BNS) Bathiya & Santhush is one of the biggest musical acts in the Sri Lankan music Industry.

Since the inception of their act in 1998, they have over 50 number-one-hit singles, six platinum-selling mainstream albums, four commercially successful Eps, and countless movie soundtracks.

BNS is one of the biggest musical acts to hit the Sri Lankan musical scene since the 1990s, mixing Sinhala, Tamil, and English rap verses in their originals, while they have also mixed Hindi rap verses in their folk hop remixes bringing out their contemporary style and the music industry in Sri Lanka.

BNS became the only Sri Lankan hip-hop act to feature Indian singers, namely Hariharan (in the song Yaalpanamen), Asha Bhosle (Dedunna Sedi), and Sonu Nigam

(in the song Aachale).

BNS is also the only Sri Lankan artistes to have albums under both Sony BMG & Universal Music India.

So, here I am in Getambe at the Oak Ray River Garden enjoying all the fun frolic, with the Kandy young people, coming to watch the most exciting duo singing with his electronic band.

This show was organized by Sugeewa Palliaguruge, the entrepreneur · Chairman/managing director · Senani /oakray holdings /isinigems & Jewellers

So, let’s get into the thick of the show, not only to participate in the magical performances by the artists but also to watch the activated youth gyrating, twisting with swaying actions, the most exciting to watch.

So, viewers, Sri Lanka is recovering from economic and social deprivation fast.

Petrol shortages and long queues, gas shortages, and a dearth of essential foods and other requirements and drugs are gradually becoming part of our history.

IMF bailing out has rekindled handling challenges and today come and see for yourself if and where starving people dwell.

I hope you will now get a glimpse of the situation in the country, and it is hopeful with the restructuring of our debt with the help of our major lenders, we will come out of the current situation, sooner than we think.

It is true that the economic crisis has impacted the poor and vulnerable disproportionally, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The country is now moving on the path of prosperity from a bankrupt and marginalized situation, it is now receiving good international recognition.

So, until we meet again, good health, and goodbye for now.
