The WCIC Sinhala and Tamil Avurudu Udawa and Eid Festival, powered by DFCC Aloka, concluded last month with resounding success, showcasing the vibrant spirit of Sri Lankan culture and providing a platform for women entrepreneurs to shine.

Organized by the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC), the festival took place at the Colombo City Centre, offering attendees a delightful fusion of traditional Avurudu and Eid related offerings. With a range of vendors and activities, the event attracted a large audience eager to support women-led businesses.

The bazaar boasted a total of 52 vendors showcasing a diverse array of products ranging from footwear to garments, accessories to kitchenware, and spices to personal care items. Representing regions across Sri Lanka including Colombo, Galle, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar, Bandaragama, Negombo, Hambantota, and Avissawella, the festival celebrated the cultural richness and entrepreneurial spirit, providing an unforgettable shopping experience for all.

From fashionable attire to delectable spices, it provided visitors with the perfect opportunity to complete their Avurudu and Eid shopping lists while supporting women entrepreneurs. The bustling stalls, overflowing with festive finds, encapsulated the spirit of community and tradition at its finest.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the WCIC Sinhala and Tamil Avurudu Udawa and Eid Festival,” said Nayana Karunaratne, Event Chairperson, WCIC. “This event not only celebrated our fusion of culture but also provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and contributions to the economy. Chairman DFCC, Jegan Durairatnam declared open the bazar together his wife Sakunthala Durairatnam and Chairperson of WCIC, Anoji De Silva. DFCC Aloka, a leading financial institution dedicated to fostering economic growth and empowerment, played a pivotal role in powering the festival.
