Tea Bush, Ramboda-the stopping point – By Dr Harold Gunatillake
Hello Viewers,
Thank you for tuning in again.
Today, I am excited to share the perfect Resort for your next trip to Sri Lanka.
The Tea Bush Oak Ray Hotel in Ramboda, a place steeped in history has become a favoured stopover for travellers journeying from Colombo to the hills.
Many years ago, travellers would take a break at the Pussellawa Resthouse while making their way to the mountains.
However, with the establishment of the Tea Bush, approximately two decades ago,
has become the most sought-after spot for a leisurely break or an overnight stay.
Recently, my companions and I decided to visit this well-liked wayside spot, where we planned to spend the night before continuing to our ultimate destination of Nuwara Eliya.
Our journey to the Tea Bush was a feast for the eyes, with the stunning scenery filling us with joy and excitement.
Departing from Kandy, we reached the Tea Bush within just one and a half hours. Notably, numerous coaches with fellow travellers also stop at the Tea Bush to capture photos of the Kotmale Dam and partake in a refreshing cup of tea before resuming their journey to the hills.
The Tea Bush stands proudly against the emerald backdrop, exuding a welcoming
presence. Its architecture uniquely blends colonial charm and contemporary elegance, a testament to the intriguing stories etched into its walls.
The manager warmly welcomed us as we arrived and offered a refreshing glass of melon juice. This provided a much-needed revival after navigating the winding roads and admiring the beautifully manicured tea estates lining either side of the road.
All visitors to Tea Bush dart directly to the expansive balcony to get a glimpse of the Kotmale Dam, a marvel of engineering. Its turquoise waters stretch into infinity, and everybody clicks their cameras, capturing memories.
So, viewers, you can now share the remaining photos with my community, enjoying them as if they have been released from their school schedules and exams.
Until we meet again, goodbye for now
