Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka, Nuwan Thushara, and Sadheera Samarawickrama have been signed by Dubai Capitals. Kusal Perera and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth have been signed by MI Emirates. Sri Lankan cricketers Dilshan Madushanka, Kusal Mendis, and Maheesh Theekshana have been signed by Sharjah Warriors. Earlier, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Chandimal and Matheesha Pathirana had been retained by Desert Vipers. MANY COMPANIES DO NOT PAY TAXES – By Sunil Thenabadu Nearly 90,000 companies don’t pay taxes Source : info-rain Nearly 90,0000 companies in Sri Lanka do not pay taxes, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Economic and Physical Planning revealed. Chairman of the Committee MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that from a total of 105,000 companies in Sri Lanka, only 15,000 fulfil their tax obligations. Stating that there were 295,000 personal tax files in 2022, he stated that in 2023, this further decreased to 204,000 files. “Surprisingly, a mere 29,000 individuals among the populace contribute a solitary rupee to the nation’s tax resources through their personal files. On the corporate front, our country hosts 105,000 companies, but merely 15,000 of them fulfil their tax obligations,” he said. TOURIST ARRIVALS IN THE SAME MOMEMTUM THIS MONTH TOO – By Sunil Thenabadu Source : info-rain Over 50,000 tourist arrivals have been reported within the first ten (10) days of August 2023, Sri Lanka’s Tourism Ministry reported. According to the Tourism Ministry, a total of 51, 594 tourist arrivals have been reported during this period, an increase compared to the same period last year. India is the highest source market with 9,146 tourist arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom with 6,939 tourist arrivals, and China with 3,707 tourist arrivals. France with 3,249 tourist arrivals and Germany with 3,155 tourist arrivals rounds off the top five source markets during the first 10 days of August 2023. Tourist arrivals have also been reported from Italy, Russia, Spain, Netherlands and Canada during this period. The Tourism Ministry added that Sri Lanka has reported a total of 819, 507 tourist arrivals until August 10, 2023. (NewsWire) ...
