Sri Lanka holds first ever fashion and textile tradeshow in UK Source:FT The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association (SLASA), and Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), proudly presented the ‘Sourced Sri Lanka’ Fashion and Textile Tradeshow on 17 -18 June at the Royal Horticultural Hall in London. This landmark event, the first of its kind in the UK, showcased the best of Sri Lankan fashion and textiles with 80 exhibiting stalls. The event provided a unique platform for UK buyers and fashion enthusiasts to engage directly with Sri Lankan manufacturers and designers. Sri Lanka High Commission Celebrates Vesak in Canberra The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra Celebrated 2021 Vesak with an alms giving and a Dhamma sermon. The High Commission staff offered Buddha Pooja at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara in Canberra on the Vesak poya day on 26th May followed by “Heel Dhanaya” to the resident Venerable Maha Sanga. The Vesak lanterns and illuminations were displayed at the high Commission. On 28th May a Dhamma sermon conducted by Venerable Aparelle Soratha Thero of the Sri Lankan Buddhist Vihara was held at the High Commission premises. Around 125 Sri Lankans representing all religions of Sri Lanka were present at the event. High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra Celebrates Christmas Source:Sri Lanka High Commission December 6, 2019 High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra celebrated Christmas with the participation of Sri Lankan community at the High Commission premises on 29 November 2019, in keeping with the tradition of commemorating the important festivals of all religions practiced in Sri Lanka. The Rev. Father Steve Nation led Christmas prayers in English and highlighted the meaning of Christmas, coexistence with other faiths and how its empathetic towards other religions. Rev. Father Ruwan Pradeep delivered the Christmas message trilingually in Sinhala, Tamil and English highlighting the significance of celebration of Christmas by communities around the world.
