The garden was established in 1876 and is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. It covers an area of approximately 23 hectares and is home to a diverse collection of plants, including rare and endangered species, as well as a number of botanical specimens that are unique to Sri Lanka. Visitors to the Gampaha Henarathgoda Botanical Gardens can expect to see a wide range of trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants, as well as numerous species of birds and other wildlife.
