Initially known as the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS), DRS combines television replays, ball-tracking technology, microphones, and infra-red imaging to assist match officials with decision making. It comprises both Umpire Reviews and Player Reviews, and was first introduced in Test matches in 2008, ODIs in January 2011, and in a Twenty20 International in October 2017. A Game-Changer in Cricket The International Cricket Council (ICC) initially made the use of DRS mandatory for all international matches. However, this was later revised to optional, requiring consent from both teams.
