OBITUARY: JASMINE FERNANDO We regret to announce the death of Jasmin Fernando, the beloved wife of Ruwanal and much-loved mother of Amila, Malinda and Dinuka. Jasmine’s funeral will be held on Saturday, February 17, at Mary Immaculate Church, 125 Barnier Drive, Quakers Hill, NSW. The viewing will be from 10.30am followed by Mass and the burial at Riverstone Cemetery, Cemetery  Road, Riverstone, NSW. Jasmine, an alumni of Holy Family Convent, Dehiwela, was a much loved member of her parish and the community. She and her family supported our college functions in Sydney and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Our sincere condolences and prayers to our fellow Peterites Ruwanal, Amila, Malinda, and Dinuka and their grieving families on this huge loss. 19th anniversary of 2004 tsunami falls today Source : island A two minutes’ silence would be observed countrywide today from 9.25 a.m. to 9.27 a.m. in memory of all who lost their lives in the 2004 tsunami and other natural disasters in Sri Lanka, Director General of Disaster Management Centre, Major General (retd.) Sri Lanka, recently suspended by the ICC for political interference in the board’s functioning after the conclusion of the recent World Cup, have been permitted to compete in international cricket and will begin next year with two home series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. The 1996 World Cup champions finished ninth in the tournament, above only the Netherlands, and have missed out on the 2025 Champions Trophy slot.
