Rt. Rev. Keerthisiri Fernando, the former 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Kurunagala in the Church of Ceylon, will be officially instituted as the Vicar of St Peter’s Church in Murrumbeena. The ceremony is scheduled for July 20, 2024, at 4:00 PM and will be led by The Right Reverend Genieve Blackwell, Assistant Bishop of the Marmingatha Episcopate in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.

In an announcement made by Fernando, he expressed his gratitude and extended an invitation to the community to attend the service of commissioning. “Your presence at this act of worship would create a positive impression of our wider community irrespective of our ethnic, religious, and other identities in Melbourne and elsewhere,” he stated. Fernando emphasized the significance of community support in starting his new ministry in Melbourne.
