The packed venue was abuzz as a mixed crowd got to savour some of the best Sri Lankan cuisine, a smorgasbord of rice and curries with a selection of street food for good measure. Music by Shehara and George Rodrigo from Redemption made the night complete as they produced a fine selection of music that had the dance floor packed to capacity. Creatives Honing Their Creativity During Pandemic Times ‘Cascading Thoughts in Pandemic Times’, a beautiful collection of poems by Eva P Wickramage and Subhashini Jayatilake was launched on the 16th of July among a distinguished crowd at St Joseph’s Centre in Baulkham Hills. The two Sri Lankan born Australian poets came together, as the title of the book suggests, during the pandemic isolation period. ‘Writing these poems gave us an opportunity to connect through social media in a meaningful way.’ Subhashini said, speaking of the journey she and the co-author took of which the result was this beautifully written collection. ‘It was a stressful time for all of us,’ agreed Eva, adding that social media gave the opportunity for her to connect with the world during isolation. The collection wonderfully brings to us the anguish, the loneliness as well as the small joys and new discoveries that all of us encountered ...

This charity event which was held after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was a huge success. The event was to showcase the foundation’s recent activities and make awareness of the underprivileged sick Sri Lankan children’s situation in aftermath of the COVID-19 and challenging socioeconomic conditions. Around 250 ladies attended the event to support and celebrate the 12 years of the foundation’s service. It was a memorable event with traditional blessings, songs, ladies and teens fashion shows, a raffle draw, and dance items by Mathra and SLDAS followed by a scrumptious dinner catered by Flavour of Ceylon.
