Chinmaya Mission’s “Melodies of the Monsoon” fundraiser event a resounding success! “After drinking the rain from the ocean, The skies gave birth to the nectar-like rain” – Valmiki Ramayana (Aranya Kanda) On February 1st, 2020 over 100 spiritual seekers and music-lovers congregated in Chinmaya Mission Sydney’s local Ashram in Castle Hill to elevate themselves in the spirit of oneness, and raise operating funds for Chinmaya Mission’s upcoming No Shoes 2020 Campaign, which will raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). There is currently no known cure for MS, and all funds raised will go towards MS Australia to provide funds for research, raise awareness about MS and work with families and individuals who need assistance. Devi Balika ‘Maroon & Silver Night 2019’ By Dr Minoka Jayatileke, on behalf of Devi committee (Photos by Roy Grafix) The magnificent ‘Maroon & Silver Night’ organised by the Past Pupils Association of Devi Balika in NSW & ACT, was held recently at the Pennant Hills Bowling Club. Many Devians, their families and friends relaxed and indulged in a sumptuous buffet and outstanding entertainment in a sea of colour and vibrant surroundings. The association was formed in 2015 and currently has 75 members. The aim of the event was to raise funds to offer scholarships to underprivileged and academically gifted Devi students in Sri Lanka. The Ceylon Society of Australia AGM and Social 2019 – By Sunil de Silva (Photos thanks to Mahal Selvadurai) 30 November 2019 saw an exceptional event – the Social following the Annual General Meeting of the Ceylon Society of Australia. The venue was the meeting hall at the Pennant Hills Community Centre, a hall converted beyond recognition, the handiwork of Pauline Gunewardene, the President of the CSA, with the assistance of several members of the Committee. The record attendance of 168 was comfortably accommodated at twenty tables festooned in eye catching décor in a thematic red pattern and set with wine glasses and ready for the entree of patties and cutlets ‘dished out’ by Manjula of Dish Catering.
