Late President Hon. Ranasinghe Premadasa: Celebrating His 100th Birth Anniversary. – By Gamini Kariyawasam Image Source : island June 23, 2024, marks the 100th birth anniversary of Sri Lanka’s legendary leader, the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa. He was a philanthropic people’s leader who performed a great public mission for the welfare of the common people. In order to remind the current generation of that public mission, it is with great gratitude that I write this note as a public officer who was engaged in duty for a long time, closer to him. Sri Lanka’s most distinguished leader, the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa, was born in 1924 in Colombo. It is not an easy task to condense the life of Hon. Premadasa, who played a huge role in the development of the nation, into such a short article. Image Source : wikimedia Hon. Compiled and presented by Dr. Harold Gunatillake.” Dear audience, I’d like to express my gratitude for your regular viewership of my channel. Hello Viewers, Thank you for accessing our channel, where we consistently deliver insights on various topics, particularly health-related issues. Today, we are delving into a topic of great historical significance—a celebration that marks the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Mahinda Thero in 236 BC. The heart of the religious festival is the Buddhist monastic complex, perched on the mountain of Mihintale. Here, Arahath Mahinda Thero first preached Buddhism to King Devanampiyatissa of Sri Lanka. Celebrations revolve around Buddhist sites in Anuradhapura, one of the first cities in Sri Lanka to adopt Buddhism, and in ...

TWO RELIGIONS AND A ROYAL KINGDOM – THE GLORY THAT WAS ANGKOR – By Bernard VanCuylenburg     PROLOGUE. Dr.Henri Mouhot the French Naturalist was doing what he loved best, searching for new species of flora in a leafy green forest which was his passion. Pressing even deeper into a green kingdom glinting with birds of every variety, and  flora and fauna of every description, tropical heat notwithstanding, he set to work with a passion. Suddenly, something in the forest beyond caught his eye. Amid the thickets he and his workers spotted a massive structure that resembled what looked like a temple and colossal stone steps thrown down by trees which had grow between the crevices, and reached a terrace the form of which was impossible to make out. As a guide cleared a path with his machete, they came across another colossal structure half buried in the density of ...
