An Easy Sri Lankan Kavum recipe – By Nadeeka – eLanka

Sri Lankan Kavum

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rice flour
  • 1/2 cup of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of jaggery (or brown sugar)
  • 1 cup of thick coconut milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Oil for deep-frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, wheat flour, and salt. Gradually add the coconut milk while stirring the mixture until it forms a thick batter.
  2. Add the jaggery (or brown sugar) to the batter and mix well until it is completely dissolved.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Using a spoon, drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil and deep-fry until golden brown. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to remove the Kavum from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
