THE PERPETUAL NOVENA – ALL SAINTS CHURCH – BORELLA
HOW IT BEGAN
Rev Fr. Christopher McCarthy a Redemptorist showed Fr. John Herat how to bring
Perpetual Help to All Saints on 8th December 1951 and built a shrine for her
FIRST DAYS
The news went around, Devotees trickled in – They came in their Thousands as the Wednesdays rolled out.
THE SHRINE
At first it was just a frame and altar, flowers and candles. Then Silver and GOLD Jewels. Finally an all jewelled precious ensemble of what seemed one big jewel
TOWARDS RENEWAL
As the crowd learned to pray together their minds were opened
The Guildsmen and Businessmen prayed there
The Workers and Students prayed there
The Weary and the Burdened prayed there
The Outcasts and the Drop Outs prayed there
The Going Away Patient and the Prisoners prayed there
There is a story of a Non Christian VIP who prayed from the Prison for his release and paid for Thanksgiving Mass after his release
Lost Wife who found her Husband kneeling behind her there
These Stories mounted to Hundreds of Thousands and many more
THE SHRINE WENT FROM GLORY TO GLORY and celebrated The 2900th Novena on 5th August 2009
