Dr. Kanchanamala Ranasinghe – has been selected as the best singer from the Asian Continent in classical singing at the Intercontinental music awards (ICMA) 2024.

Global winners will be announced at the award ceremony in Los Angeles  USA on 25th August 2024

The judging panel consisted of Grammy award winners, professors in music and artists who work closely with Grammy Award Winners. ICMA has close collaborations with music guru’s in Hollywood who work with world famous artists- Celine Dion, Selena Gomez, Ricky Martin, Miley Cyrus, Bella Thorn, Nelly Furtado, Westlife, Gloria Estefan. They have also produced for songs for many award-winning films including Top gun, Santa Barbara and Redline and closely collaborate with Warner Brothers, MTV, Netflix, Sony and Cinemax. 

Dr. Kanchanamala’s song name is “Pathiniyak Wi”.

This heart  touching music is by Maestro Nalaka Anjana Kumara and  lyrics by Jayamali Charitha Bandara  This award has taken Sri Lankan music to a global level becoming the first Sri Lankan to achieve such a standard in the continent. 

This heart touching song tells a story of eternal love:

Dr Kanchanamala Ranasinghe – a specialist general practitioner and a senior lecturer, School of Medicine, Griffith University works and resides in Australia. However her love for classical music drives her all the way to Sri Lanka to her homeland  where she follows her passion and makes music with fellow artists. She is also an actress and portrays the role of Suppadevi in Prof  Ediriweera Sarachchandra’s world renowned opera style drama Sinhanbahu where her mother and father portrayed main roles and hold the Guinness  world record for the most durable theatre performers in the world.

A multi talented  personality Dr. Kanchanamala is highly qualified in the medical field and has numerous specialist fellowships and a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical medicine as well.

MBBS, FRACGP- RG, FARGP (Emergency Medicine),FACRRM,  EMC (ACEM), CWH (RANZCOG), ESME (AMEE), Mphil, PhD (UQ)

Standing on par with world  music – blues, pop, country, Hindustani, Karnatic, Latin music, Contemporary, Native American etc etc Dr. Kanchanamala and Maestro Nalaka Anjana Kumara have  taken Sri Lankan classical music to global standard.

She does proud to Australia as well, continuing her passion in native music while offering her services in the field of medicine in Australia and teaching the younger generation of medical doctors as well as contributing to medical research.
