Summer Heat – By Charmaine Candappa

Charmaine Candappa – eLanka

Summer

In the hot and grimy heat
Walking on an intolerable street
I saw a lady seated in a chair
Eating watermelon in her veranda .
Summer afternoons are hard to bear
There isn’t a wind in the air
I need to cool my tired and weary face
To the tranquil comfort of home I race.

Charmaine.
