Caramel Milk Tea Recipe – By Malsha – eLanka
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 tablespoon loose-leaf tea
Directions:
Step 1: Caramelize the Sugar
- Heat the sugar in a pan over low heat until it starts to melt.
- Stir continuously as it turns a rich amber brown.
- Tip: Caramelize slowly to avoid burning. Use patience and keep stirring.
Step 2: Add Water
- Carefully stir in the water. Heat for 2-3 minutes, dissolving any hardened sugar.
- Caution: Cold water will splatter and steam. Pour slowly to avoid burns.
- Alternative: Use warm water or replace water with milk for a creamier tea.
Step 3: Add Milk
- Stir in the milk and gently boil for 2-3 minutes.
- Tip: Any milk works—full-fat, half-and-half, nut milk, oat milk, soy milk. Choose based on your preference.
Step 4: Add Tea
- Add the loose-leaf tea and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Tip: Black tea is traditional, but feel free to use your favorite blend for a unique flavor.
Step 5: Strain
- Strain the tea as you pour it into a cup.
Step 6: Add Toppings
- Top with frothed milk, whipped cream, more caramel syrup, chocolate shavings, coconut bits, or your favorite toppings.
Step 7: Enjoy
- Serve hot or chilled. To enjoy cold, let the tea cool, refrigerate, and/or add ice.
Additional Tips:
- Caramelizing Sugar: Heat sugar gently until it liquefies and turns golden brown. Avoid burning by keeping the heat low and stirring continuously. Consider using raw or brown sugar for a robust flavor.
- Using Honey: Substitute honey for some sugar to prevent crystallization and add a unique flavor.
- Choosing Milk: Different milks provide different textures and flavors. Experiment to find your favorite combination.
- Tea Strength: Start with a tablespoon of loose-leaf tea. Adjust according to your taste preference.
Enjoy your delicious caramel milk tea!
