AN INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE FOR may 2018 – Mother’s Day   When I Started Seeing Another Woman… A little while ago I started seeing another woman. Actually, it was my wife’s idea.
“You know you love her” she told me one day, out of the blue.
“Life’s short, you should give her more of your time. “But I love you, dear.” I replied.
“I know, but you love her too…” she said.
This other woman my wife wanted me to see was my mother.
She has been a widow for a few years now, and because of work and my kids, I didn’t get to see her very often.
I called my mother that night and asked her to join me for a movie and some dinner.
“Did something happen? Is anything wrong?” she asked. You see, my mother belongs to the generation that thinks that any phone call after 7pm can ...

“THE MEETING” by Des Kelly      The “meeting” takes place on the 12th of June.       Who will it be, that “calls the tune”?      Will it be both the “Peace-Makers”?, and their “Staff”?      At this “Summit-Meeting, (don’t make me laugh)!!       This is where natural scepticism comes in. Both  “twittering Trump” & “the little “rocket-man” Un plan to meet in Singapore on June, the 12th, this year. They plan, hopefully, to make the World a more peaceful place, and, in so doing, collect the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018.      While hoping & praying that they do, I have to inform my eLanka & Lanka Times readers that, although I am not half as sceptical as you people out there are, I think that Mr. Donald Trump (Actor, and now President of the United States of America, badly needs a “holiday”, and ...

Aluth Avurudu celebration in Kebitigollewa – A celebration of humanity By Raj Gonsalkorale (Photographs – Mahendra Amunugama) Once unknown and unheard of, Kebithigollewa witnessed a very unfortunate and sad event not so long ago in 2006 when 68 people were killed when the bus they were travelling in was blown up by a claymore mine. Kebitigollewa was known as a border village caught up in the internecine war between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan security forces, and the villagers lost the innocence of their surroundings and a set back to their peaceful and laid back life. In excerpts of an article written by Thilini Kahandawaarachchi, she describes that the laid back life “although years have passed, to many Kebithigollewa remains a mere name of a village without a face. Kebithigollewa is about 50 KMs from Anuradhapura. As the car zooms along the empty road that stretches as far as ...

Fantastic night with Rap-So-D and Batterii filling the dance floor to capacity. Peterites produce a ‘Casino Royale’ masterpiece BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE. The Peterite annual dinner dances every year appears to be gaining in innovative creativity as was witnessed at the ‘Casino Royale’ themed event this year which drew a sellout crowd at the Grand on Cathies Lane in Wantirna. The talented OBU of the boys from Colombo 4 produced yet another spectacular show which drew together mostly old boys of the school and their friends and supporters all aptly dressed up for the occasion in debonair fashion.
