I am writing to you with regards to School Kids Bonus. I have been approached recently to become a multicultural ambassador to raise awareness of about the changes in the School Kids Bonus within the Indian community.
The Australian Government has changed the funding process for families with school age children from kindergarten to year 12. It has removed the Education Tax Refund scheme and replaced it with the School Kids Bonus Scheme.
The School Kids Bonus funding scheme if there to help families with students’ school expenses.

What is the purpose of the Schoolkids Bonus?
» The Schoolkids Bonus aims to help low and middle income families and individuals with the costs of sending their children to primary or secondary school.
» Eligible families and individuals receive the payment automatically into their bank accounts and are encouraged to put it towards education expenses for their children.
How much are the payments?
» Each year eligible families and individuals will receive $410 for each child in primary school and $820 for each child in secondary school.
» Half is paid in January, to help with back-to-school costs and the other half is paid in July to help with mid-year costs.
» The payment may be split between parents if they share the care of their children.
Who is eligible?
The Schoolkids Bonus is available to families that have a child in primary or secondary school, or individuals in primary or secondary school, and who receive one of the following payments:
» Family Tax Benefit Part A
» Youth Allowance
» Disability Support Pension
» ABSTUDY Living Allowance
» Carer Payment
» Parenting Payment
» Special Benefit
